Why does Vision matter?

Because it directs the overall direction of the company, the franchisees, the technicians, the home office scheduling center staff, the marketing team, and most importantly… me.

Vision is the grand proclamation of where a company is heading and what it seeks to accomplish. At Midtown Chimney Sweeps, we pursue the grand and glorious by daily completing the mundane with steady and studied excellence. This will control our strategic decisions and partnerships and guide our steps year by year. Having good customer experiences one after the other, and building on daily tasks we will enable others to come into our brand and build on our solid foundation. 

Foundations are by definition solid and lowly objects. Solid, because the lofty structure must rest on something sure and flat and reliable. Only in this way will the builder pull straight lines and keep the edifice vertical and functionally straight. Lowly, because the foundation is unseen and frequently overlooked at a casual glance. Nobody walks up to St. Marks church in Venice, Italy and asks to go in the basement to glory in the wet stones that support the massive structure. Instead, every passerby cranes his neck back and snaps a photo of the lion with wings on the grand pillars… listening for the beautiful bells from the belfry. Foundations are silent, not clamoring for attention. That is what a vision statement and a mission statement is. A solid foundation for a healthy organization.
